Hazon Inc.: Jewish Outdoor, Food, and Environmental Education (JOFEE)
Total Awarded
$13,064,798
Purpose
To support organizational sustainability following a recent merger with Pearlstone Conference & Retreat Center Inc. As a result of this merger, Hazon is now the largest organization offering Jewish outdoor, food, farming & environmental education (JOFEE) experiences to youth and young adults in the United States. Previous grants were for general operating support for JOFEE programming and the JOFEE Educator Fellowship, which trains and educates early-career JOFEE professionals (ages 21-32) through a professional development opportunity designed to create a leadership pipeline of talented Jewish educators. Previous support also provided matching funds for business planning and capacity support to Hazon, Pearlstone Center, Urban Adamah, and Wilderness Torah to significantly increase the number of immersive JOFEE experiences offered and to strengthen the organizations.
